Frequently asked questions

  • From 6 January 2025, maintenance will start at Geusseltbad and the pool will be closed. No later than 31 March, all swimming activities will restart. You will read about this later on this page.

  • Every building, and certainly a sustainable swimming pool with lots of modern technology like the Geusseltbad, needs regular major maintenance. To take care of this properly, a multi-year maintenance plan has been made where all the necessary work is kept. This includes various works that require the pool to be closed. We carry out these works in one go so that the pool has to close less often. We can also work faster because we do not have to keep preparing for use.

  • During maintenance, work is carried out by many different contractors and suppliers. We take into account the availability of these organisations. But we also looked for a quieter period for all users of the Geusselt-Noord sports park and the Geusseltbad. Unfortunately, every period has its drawbacks.

  • The main works include replacing tiling, revamping the building management system and coating the buffers of the baths. The building management system provides air treatment and water quality throughout the building. We are also using this period to make the facility even more sustainable. For instance, we are installing more energy-efficient lighting and improving the building's insulation.

  • We know that it is very inconvenient for all users to interrupt swimming activities again for an extended period of time. Therefore, we started looking for swimming pools nearby to temporarily house some swimming activities. We are happy that this has been successful!
We have found a replacement location for our swimming lessons, health care swimming groups and regular tenants.
For lane swimming, free swimming and group lessons, we refer you to the permanent offer of: Zwembad De Treffer (Eijsden), het Anker (Buchten) en Zwembad Hoensbroek. Here you pay the rate of the pool concerned.

  • All cards are renewed for the full maintenance period. As long as no regular programme is running, the validity of your card does not expire.

  • The physical information desk will be closed for the first 3 weeks of maintenance only. During this period, we can be reached via emailinfo [at] maastrichtsport.nl ( info[at]maastrichtsport[dot]nl). After these 3 weeks, you can also visit the physical and telephone information desk again.

  • The Grand Café Geusseltbad is open daily during maintenance. View opening hours here.

  • The Robsport swim shop will be closed during maintenance. Do you need swimming materials? Robsport's webshop will remain available as usual during this period. The swim shop will be open again starting Wednesday, April 2.

Swimming activities during maintenance

  • All swimming lessons for diploma A will start from 6 January at other locations. Participants have been emailed where and when they are assigned. Unfortunately, due to limited capacity in the other pools, there are no replacement lessons for diploma B or C and adults. These lessons will be cancelled from 6 January to 30 March. All swimming lessons will start again at the Geusseltbad by 31 March at the latest. Participants will receive an e-mail about this before then. The validity of all 4-week tickets will be extended for the full maintenance period.

  • From 6 January to 30 March, we temporarily offer care swimming at swimming pool de Treffer in Eijsden. This 25-metre pool has a shallow section and a water temperature of 30 degrees. The pool is suitable for health care swimming, but unfortunately does not have special facilities such as MIVA rooms or a stairlift. All participants have received an email with the temporary schedule and a link to sign up weekly.

  • The parent-child swim was originally scheduled at another location. Unfortunately, the water was too cold and it is not responsible to swim with babies and young children. Parent-child swimming will be cancelled through March 30.

  • From 6 January to 30 March, there are no sports group lessons and lane swimming. Do you have a multiple entry card? Then it will be automatically extended for the period of closure.
